Hey hey there! So, this post has had a long time coming, but I just have had a little bit of a difficult time posting this one. There’s something about when you spend so much time on something that it ends up being really hard to do it justice to share with the world. I decided that I’m just going to do it, just to share it with you guys. So here is our house flip reveal!
Okay, if you’re new here to the blog, I’m Brittany and my husband, Josh, and I are in our twenties. We tried something new this year and flipped a house! I’m sure as you can imagine, this was a huge and super tough job. We only hired out to fix the roof and little bit of dry wall, and we did everything else ourselves to save some money. Doing it this way ended up extending our time flipping the house from February all the way until mid-September! We worked on this 6 days a week, waking up early and getting done late at night.
Some of the photos aren’t top notch quality because we were so rushed on our last day. We were hurrying so fast to make it back for school; we slept on the floor, we did massive cleanup, packed, showed the neighbors everything, and rolled out the door haha.
How we found the house
We have a couple of rentals in Alabama, so we have a realtor friend down South who gave us a heads up on a flipping opportunity house. It was a little abandoned historical home in Birmingham called The Carriage House. We decided to give it a try and bought it! We packed up all of our things and drove across the country in our little Honda to do the renovation. We got there and it was this nasty/scary/creepy/abandoned/spider and rat-infested place with no water, a giant hole in the roof, mold, many other problems, and, months later, we’ve transformed it into a cute little four bedroom two bath home. I am so proud of us for pulling off such a feat! For two people, it turned out amazing! If you know anyone who’s looking for a cute starter home in Alabama, have them contact me
And without further ado… here is the reveal!

Note: We couldn’t finish the bedroom floors and some painting in the other rooms because we ran out of the two most important things- time and money! Haha.
Don’t mind me looking super rough in this photo haha, my excuse is I just got done with seven months of construction…
How long did it take you guys to do the flip? It took us about seven months.
Did you hire out for the flip? We hired for the roof and a little Sheetrock, but we pretty much did the whole thing ourselves! From scraping, sanding, painting, welding, cutting, plastering, lifting, hammering, and more, we were an awesome team working day after day, month after month!
How did you guys get started? We just packed up our little blue Honda and just drove down from Idaho to Alabama after we bought the house. A realtor that we know told us about a deal down South.
How much is the house listed for? $100,000.
Where did you get the supplies to do this? We pretty much got everything at Home Depot, but a little Lowe’s and Harbor Freight.
How did you pick paint, colors, etc? I used Pinterest as a huge inspiration and made a board titled House Renovation. I picked a ton of paint cards from
