Hey guccies! It is bright and early this morning. Today we are going over 5 Easy Hacks to a Productive Morning!
Let me start out by saying, I am a night owl through and through. I love staying up late. Actually, I thrive in it. There is something about getting creative in the late hours and losing track of time, or just watching a good movie with your guy while throwing popcorn at each other. So I get it when you say, “Mornings are impossible!” or “How can I get anything done? I hate mornings!”. Don’t worry, I’ve been there.
I have compiled 5 Easy Hacks to a Productive Morning. Honestly, these are things that I do to make my morning happy and full of accomplishments! After trying out many “morning hacks” these not only made me more productive on my Blog and YouTube, but in every area of my life!
5 Easy Hacks to a productive morning
1 | Wake up Early
Rise and shine baby! This may seem like an obvious one, but it’s definitely important. My early is looking like 8 am these days. Your “early” and my “early” might be in two completely separate solar systems. And that’s okay! You do you. Just make sure that it’s early enough that you have time to get things done. Studies have shown that early risers are more productive. So, I would say that it’s safe to say that if you’re looking to be more productive in the mornings, more time can definitely help.
To My Fellow Night Owls: Sleep is so important to me. In the mornings I can be a crank with frizzy hair, if I don’t get enough sleep. But guess what? I actually have this love affair going on with my mornings now. I wake up with a smile! Babe, go to sleep at the proper time, for all our sakes.
2 | Have a morning routine written out
Write out a morning routine and stick with it. This isn’t your “goals” necessarily(I’ll get to that later in the post). Keep a piece of paper with this routine on it. This should be something you’re looking forward to. Put things on there to get you up and going in the morning. Tape this to your mirror or pin it to your wall. Either way, have it where you can refer to it when you get going. Make this a happy habit. Even if the things on there are super simple(which I highly recommend that they are), it feels so good to wake up and start accomplishing things right away.
Here’s what my list looks like:
Drink some herbal tea or lemon water
Open up the curtains to brighten the room
Open the window to breath a quick breath of fresh air
2 minute exercise(jumping jacks, stairs, whatever to get your blood flowing)
Smell an essential oil(usually Orange for energy)
Wash Face Routine(try splashing some cold water on your face or sucking on an ice cube if you’re really wanting more Zz’s!)
Do you notice how simple all of those things are? This isn’t my complete list, but I think you guys get the gist! This kind of stuff is more “self care” than anything else. And this is what will get you going in the morning. Use things that you are excited about like getting in some reading time, taking vitamins, or going for a five minute walk!
Let me know if you want a post expanding on this one! I have so many self care ideas that it’s unreal. LOL.
3 | No Phone Zone
Phones kill your morning productivity. Not to mention that it’s really becoming a problem and an addiction in our lives if we are waking up and going straight to social media. Don’t look at it to check the time. Don’t look at it at all! On YouTube(speaking of YouTube, check out my channel here), I noticed that almost every “Morning Routine” I’ve watched has the person waking up and immediately looking at their phone.
I made this pact with myself that I don’t look at my phone for an hour after I wake up. I use my Fitbit, so there’s no need to check the time on my phone. Get a clock or a watch or whatever you have to do so you don’t find an excuse to look at your phone. It’s a portal that will suck you in, and your morning will be gone before you know it! And I promise you, you will actually enjoy your mornings more once you’ve stopped waking up and immediately comparing yourself to every single person on the planet.
4 | Write Daily Goals
Write out your goals for the day. As soon as you are done with your “self care” or “morning routine” list, you can get down to business. There are a few different ways of doing this. Personally, my favorite method is having a daily calendar sheet(find mine here.) Hopefully I will get a post up about my stationary soon!
After I list all of my tasks, I number them 1-4. 1- meaning the most important. 4- meaning least important. As a list junkie, I find this to be a great way for me to prioritize. There are many methods that work. You could just make a list and call it good. Find what works for you! Either way, write them down.
5 | Set Time Restraints
Time yourself. Now that you have your goals written out, it’s time to accomplish them. I actually learned this tip in my Time Management class at College. It’s very important to set goals with your time. Now is the time you can get your devices out and use a timer(but only for a timer!).
Decide when you will have everything finished for the day. Then write down how long you will spend time on each thing(I just put this next to the task). Once your timer goes off, move onto the next item on your list. You will get better with this with practice.
Those are my 5 hacks for a productive morning! Thank you for reading! I hope that this post helped you. If it did, be a friend and share it with your whoever you feel like will benefit from this post. Questions or comments can be left down below. Have an amazing day. I hope it’s sparkling!
